Help Moms Stay at Home with their Children

For a while now I have been working on taking Buy By Mom to the next level…the site needs re-building and it needs a professionally developed Media/PR Package.
Well…Great News this week! I just received notice this week that I am a semifinalist of the Moms In Business Grant!
The National Association For Moms In Business’ grant program www.momsinbusinessgrant.com allows me to build my business ( Buy By Mom) capital by harnessing the power of crowd funding to take Buy By Mom to the next level so I can help even more Moms in business!
About my Venture
The purpose of BuyByMom.com is to promote moms in business and get them out on the web. My passion is for the moms who want to stay at home with their children while bringing in an income by selling the items they create or the products they believe in. A friend of mine started an online boutique and tried so hard to market it and get word out about the products that she offered. However, in over 2 years, she only ever made 2 sales from the boutique. She was heartbroken. All the time, money, and effort she was putting into the website was bringing her nothing in return. She was frustrated, to say the least, and decided to close up shop.

She was frustrated, to say the least, and decided to close up shop.
BuyByMom.com was born because I wanted to keep that from happening to other moms. I wanted to see mothers succeed in their businesses and be able to stay at home with their children. I wanted to spread the word about the amazing talents moms possess and I wanted to see them succeed beyond their wildest dreams in your business. I truly believe that by working together, we can make each mom a success.
This new way of fundraising process allows all persons, even those with very little to give, to show their support and be a part of something big.
The Moms In Business Grant is the first-ever crowdfunding business grant in the nation, and I’m one of the Top 10 National Semifinalists!
This is an exciting opportunity for me to grow my business and to have a chance at a $12,000 Grand Prize Grant Package. I’m literally one of the final 10 that were chosen out of dozens of business owners who initially applied.
I’m so close to winning, but I need your help.
I need you to pledge support for my business, Buy By Mom. Sharing the information about this with your friends and family would be very helpful too!
Statistics show that women business owners do not have the same advantage as male business owners in getting funding for their business. In fact, women business owners only receive 11% of venture capital funding, but woman-owned businesses tend to stay in business longer. This is exactly why the National Association For Moms In Business has developed this revolutionary business grant rather than giving the “traditional” kind of business grant. Due to the promotional requirementsto be successful in this grant, it’s a good way to identify those entrepreneurs who will go the extra mile to publicize and build their ventures therefore making them ideal candidates for our additional $12,000 grant support.
How does this work?
The “crowdfunding” platform is a way to raise money by attracting many small donations from a large group (friends, family, professional contacts) to meet a funding goal. “Backers” give contributions in exchange for rewards or perks offered by the grant applicant – rewards can be any product, service or experience to which the grant applicant has access. And example of crowdfunding is an NPR pledge drive - if you donate $25.00 to NPR, donors may get an NPR T-shirt or a coffee mug, or get to go “behind the scenes” at a special event, etc.
In addition, if I win, I will receive up to $1000 in additional funding. That means that every dollar you give to my project may be matched: dollar for dollar!
Step 1: Go to http://mibn.org/site.php/spgs/read/momsinbusinessgrant
Step 2: Click on button Back This MOM for Buy By Mom
Step 3: Click on button Back This Project
Step 4: Choose your reward option, for example Featured Sponsor Spot for 9 months or Featured Parent and Featured Sponsor for One Year and Enter Pledge Amount
The grant ends on June 15th, so please back my project today. And tell your friends!
I’m excited that I have the opportunity to participate in this program!
I am a Proud Mom in Business, and would very much appreciate your help.

A Passion for Freedom Part IV - Doing Your Part
There are many political organizations online that offer free newsletters to keep you informed. Simply search online for newsletters or political organizations. There are a plethora of them.
Most senators and congressmen (and women) also publish electronic newsletters. To find out how to contact your senators visit: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm
To contact your congressmen (or women) visit: https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml
Use these links to keep your representative informed of your views on current and upcoming legislation. It is important for all of us to remember that senators and congressmen (and women) work for US - something I think many, maybe even most, have forgotten. It is up to us to remind them.
It is also important that we all exercise our right to vote. I hear a lot of people voice their dissatisfaction on issues. I say to them: 'did you vote'? 'Did you write your representative?'
I love freedom! My husband and eldest son fought for and continue to fight for your freedom. Many Americans have died so we can live free. Freedom is something we should never take for granted. There are those who would take our freedom away so they can gain more power. It is up to us, 'we the people', to preserve our freedom.

A Passion for Freedom Part III - Our Form of Government
With regard to the Republican form of government (that of a Republic) Madison wrote in The Federalist:
"As there is a degree of depravity in mankind which requires a certain degree of circumspection and distrust: So there are other qualities in human nature which justify a certain portion of esteem and confidence. Republican government presupposes the existence of these qualities in a higher degree than any other form. Were the pictures which have been drawn by the political jealousy of some among us faithful likenesses of the human character, the influence would be that there is no sufficient virtue among men for self government; and that nothing less than the chains of despotism can restrain them from destroying and devouring one another."
As is now apparent, we have a Republic form of government for a reason: to protect our Individual liberties. Many of our liberties are more and more in jeopardy every day. Regardless of where you stand in the political spectrum, it behooves you to get and stay involved in the political process. The legislation being considered at the federal level impacts us now and our children and families in the future. It is now easier than ever to get informed and stay involved with so many technological tools at our disposal.

A Passion for Freedom Part II - The 'Excesses of Democracy"
The Framing (Federal) Convention's record proves that by dcrying the 'excesses of democracy' the Framers were not opposing a popular type of government for the United States - their whole purpose was to create a sound system of this type. To contend to the contrary is to falsify history - which not only maligns the Framers but also the spirit of the Free Man in America - all those people of that period who were grateful for the Constitution. The Constitution provided, under the Republic it created, liberties protected against abuse by all possible violators, including the Majority.
By protesting the 'excesses of democracy', the Framers were simply making clear their sound reasons for preferring a Republic as the proper form of government. As a result of history, the Framers knew that a Republic provided the best safeguards and only effective safeguards for people's liberties. This of course supposes that a Republic form of government is actually enforced. It is interesting to note that in 1789 Jefferson wrote to Madison:
"The tyranny of the legislatures is the most formidable dread at present, and will be for many long years. That of the executive will come its turn, but it will be a remote period."
In any Democracy, Direct or Representative, as a form of government, there can be no legal system which protects the Individual or Minority (any or all) against unlimited tyranny by the Majority. A Republic, however, is an entirely different form of government and therefore has a different purpose. Its purpose is to protect the Individual's God-given, unalienable rights and liberties of people in general. It strictly controls the Majority. A Republic is a constitutionally limited government of the representative type created by a written constitution, adopted by the people and changeable by them only by its amendment, with powers divided between three separate branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial.

A Passion for Freedom Part I - What is at Stake
As parents, there are many things in life we are passionate about - our children, our spouses, our families, etc. The political landscape of today has brought another passion to the forefront for me: Freedom.
I grew up free. I grew up knowing I had many options for my future and adult life. As a parent today, I am greatly concerned about the country in which my children are growing up.
Our freedoms are slowly and systematically being overtaken by those in power insistent on turning our country into a 'nanny state'. That is certainly not what I want. Nor, according to most polls, is it what the majority of Americans want.
In order to better understand what is at stake, it is important to understand how we, the United States of America, came to be and why we have the form of government known as a Republic.
A Republic? Yes. Many think our form of government is a Democracy, so I want to clarify the difference between the two. The chief characteristic and distinguishing feature of a Democracy is rule by Omnipotent Majority. In a Democracy, the Individual and any group of Individuals composing any Minority, have no protection against the unlimited power of the Majority. It is a case of Majority over Man. This is true whether it is a Direct Democracy or a Representative Democracy. In both types, the Majority's power is unlimited and absolute. Any decisions made by the Majority are unappealable under the legal system established to give effect to this form of government. This provides an environment for a Tyranny by Majority. This was what the Framers of the United States Constitution meant in 1787 in debates in the Federal Convention when they condemned the 'excesses of democracy' and abuses of the unalienable rights of the Individual by the Majority.

Dismiss the Bill
A letter I wrote to my Senators:
I am writing to request you vote against the health care bill.
The bill does not accomplish what it originally set out to do which is help those who do not have insurance to obtain insurance.
I respectfully request you(and President Obama) heed the advice Mr. Obama gave to President Bush when President Bush tried to privatize a portion of social security: the American people have spoken and the President should listen to them.
If you wish to work on real health care reform, I suggest you focus on the following real issues:
1. Work diligently to eliminate the fraud, waste and abuse prevalent in Medicare and Medicaid.
2. Enact tort reform
3. Work to make policies portable from state to state.
In closing, I would appreciate a response: not a form letter trying to convince me this bill is a good idea, but a well thought out response to the issues I have raised.
An active voter,

Center-Right
Based on the very latest polling data, it is fair to say he United States of America is a center-right country.
Conservatism is on the rise...even though there is no clear conservative leader. It is indeed a grass-roots movement.
91% of people polled said they just want the opportunity to succeed. Only 9% said they want the government to take care of them.
What was the number 1 attribute people wanted from their (our) government? ACCOUNTABILITY!
88% say they believe in the phrase: Live Free or Die.
72% say they are mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore! Are you?!

Number of Uninsured
The number greatly being thrown around is that there are 45 million Americans without health insurance. Let's examine that. Of that 45 million, about half are young adults who have consciously decided they don't want health insurance. About 10-11 million are people here illegally. Another portion is people who are between jobs and will have coverage within the next 30-60 days. Yet another portion are children who were pulled off of their parent's policies to be put on a state sponsored policy. That leaves about 10 million Americans who are uninsured. The flip side is that 290 million are insured (or fall into one of the categories above).
So let me get this straight...the administration wants to turn our health care system upside down for approximately 3% of the population?
There is absolutely no logic at all to doing that. Not to mention the fact that most...if not all...major government run organizations are on the verge of bankruptcy: Fannie and Freddie, the Postal Service, Medicare, Social Security...to name a few. It is obvious that the answer is not more government control. Do you want the government to decide if you can give birth in a hospital or not? Do you want the government to decide if you can get timely treatment for cancer?
Another lie we are supposed to swallow in this debate is that government run health care will not add to a deficit that has already been quadrupled in the last year!
The disregard by the administration, the senators and the congressmen and women of what the American people want is outrageous. That band of liars has definitely forgotten who they serve...they work for US!

Obama, You Scare Me
Lou Pritchett is one of corporate America's true living legends. He is an acclaimed author, dynamic teacher and one of the worlds highest rated speakers. Successful corporate executives everywhere recognize him as the foremost leader in change management.
Lou changed the way America does business by creating an audacious concept that came to be known as "partnering." Pritchett rose from soap salesman to Vice-President, Sales and Customer Development for Procter and Gamble and over the course of 36 years, made corporate history.
AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA
Dear President Obama,
You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me. You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.
You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.
You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally, you are not an American.
You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.
You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at it's core.
You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.
You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.
You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.
You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.
You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.
You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.
You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.
You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.
You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.
You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.
You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.
You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.
You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Reillys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.
You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.
Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.
Lou Pritchett
This letter was sent to the NY Times but they never acknowledged it. Big surprise. Since it hit the internet, however, it has had over 500,000 hits.

Second Amendment & Sotomayor
Supreme Court nominee Sotomayor joined an opinion in 2004 which cited as precedent that "the right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right." Does anyone think she would make the same misguided and ridiculous statement about the First Amendment? The Fourth? The Fifth? Etc...
Really?!
OK...I've been watching and waiting. Quietly hoping and praying that the new administration would in fact be the unifying positive force it purported and promised to be during the campaign. During the acceptance speech on election night he said he was my President too. Oh, really?!
OUR President did not know about the TEA parties...really?!
Really?! Making documents public that have no business being in the public eye? Selectively blacking out key information on said documents to further a political agenda? Going after a past administration because BDR just won't die? How is this at all good for or helpful or unifying for our nation? We are a Representative Republic. This means we elect people to deal with subjects such as National Security...subjects that should not be made wholly public due to National Security! Does this ring any bells? Really?!
Really?! Allowing the morning after pill to be given to 17 year olds without a prescription? Have you lost your mind? Is your intent to continue to destroy the family? (Of course it is!) Aside for the pro-life vs. pro-choice (a nice way to say death) debate, this is about parents being involved in the lives of their children. It is NOT the place of government to interfere with the family. The government keeps taking more and more parental rights away all the while being sure to let us parents know (yes, I am one too...of 4) that we are still responsible for what they do. Really?!
Really?! Bailouts? The largest spending bill and power grab in history is supposed to HELP us poor, too stupid to manage our lives on our own so we need the President and his legislators to do it for us? You have got to be...kidding...me! These 'bailouts' are about growing government...about government telling PRIVATE citizens what they can earn, what they can spend their money on...what mode of travel is acceptable. It is NOT acceptable for the government to decide who can or cannot be CEO of a company. It is NOT acceptable for the President or his staff to call out private citizens publicly for any reason. Can you say Marxism? What's next? Do you really want to know? Really?!
Really?! OUR President, the people's President, did not know about the TEA parties? Is he so out of touch already or did he lie? Either way it's no good! Why is it the Democrat way to ridicule, marginalize, personalize, demonize, minimize and polarize those who oppose their views? What is happening to free speech? Is it free as long as it is in accordance with what the administration thinks? Are we skipping socialism and heading straight into Marxism? If you doubt this, read this: http://www.crossroad.to/Quotes/communism/alinsky.htm
